Jonatan Mizrahi-Werner is a PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen, Department of Sociology, where he studies online hateful meme-sharing from a microsociological perspective.

Through digital ethnography, he researchers how mainstream youth engage with and normalize sharing hateful and extreme memes. In particular, he is interested in the interplay between interactional dynamics of the youth and the sociotechnical composition of the social platforms they use. In addition to online hateful behavior, his key interests include microsociology, online subcultures, online deviance, and antisemitism.

At the invitation of Prof. Dr. Sahana Udupa (Ethnology, LMU), he is a member of the CAS Research Group Below the Radar? Messaging Apps, Encryption and the Enticement of Extreme Speech.
